AUSTRALIAN SURFER ANOTHER YOUTH BADLY MAULED. BRISBANE, Oct. 28. Norman Girvan, aged 18, was killed by a shark while surfing at Coolangatta, and another youth, Jack Brinkley, was badly mauled and later had his left arm amputated in hospital. Members of the Life-saving Club were swimming when a shark attacked Girvan, inflicting terrible wounds. Brinkley and Gordon Doniger swam to Girvan, but he was sq badly torn that he was beyond aid, so the pair made for the beach. The monster then attacked Brinkley, tearing his left shoulder and one leg. Joe Doniger, who was ashore, returned to the water, seized Brinkley, . and carried him to the beach. Girvan’s body has not been recovered. SECOND VICTIM DEAD Received Oct. 28, 9.53 p.m. BRISBANE, Oct. 28. The second victim of the shark attack, Jack Brinkley, aged 25, died today. Both victims were skilled surf swimmers and lifesavers. A large shark caught this morning in the vicinity of yesterday's attack was killed by rifle shots.
