WITH AUSTRALIAN TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT AT PERTH WELCOME TO TOURING TEAM (From the special correspondent of the United Press Association with the team.) Received Oct. 26, 11.30 p.m. PERTH, Oct. 26. The New Zealand cricket team arrived at Fremantle by the Orontes. Members are fit and looking forward to the first match, against South Australia. Owing to the shortness of their stay the team were unable to practise at Perth. Some attended the morning screening of a newsreel showing the All Blacks and Springboks in the last Test. The New Zealanders were entertained at a luncheon tendered by the Western Australian branch of the New Zealand Society. Mr. B. J. Kortlang, formerly prominent in cricket in Wellington, warmly praised the team for its successes in England. Mr. H. Rowe, president of the Western Australian Association and a member of the Australian Board of Control, welcomed the team to Australia. He declared that the warmest feelings of friendship existed between the Australian cricket authorities and New Zealand. He said South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales would field the strongest possible teams against the New Zealanders. He announced, amid applause from the New Zealanders, that an Australian team, including Bradman, would visit New Zealand.
