BIBLE CLASS RALLY The presbyterian Bible classes of Taranaki held their annual Labour Day rally in Patea on Monday, when over 20U members from all parts of Taranaki were present. The day began with a service in Knox Church, at which Miss Kirk, of the W.C.T.U. was the principal speaker. This was followed by sectional meetings when business relating to the young men's and young women’s classes was discussed. In the afternoon a sports meeting was held in the Domain, when the Auroa Bible class was victorious in winning the “Bullock’’ Shield. At tea there was a roll call, and the evening service was held in the church hall, and was conducted by the Rev. A. G. Irvine, of Hawera. PERSONAL Mr and Mrs B. Hascltine have returned from holidays in the North. Mrs P. A. Bourke is visiting Wellington. Miss Olive Edwards spent the weekend in Waitara. Miss N. McKenna was a Hawera visitor to Patea for the week-end. Miss Helen Hamerton, was home from New Plymouth Girls’ High School. Miss M. Bilski, New Plymouth, was the guest of Mrs I. E. Nansett. Mrs C. H. Carey and Misses J. and N. Carey journeyed to Hawke’s Bay during the week-end. Miss Sheila McLynn, Wanganui, has been the guest of Misses N. and B. Bourke. Mr H. Kearney, Wellington, was the guest of Mrs W. B. Smith for the week-end. Mr D. Bourke is in Wellington. Mr S. Spurdie has been visiting his parents in New Plymouth. Mr A. Spence was a visitor to Hawke’s Bay for the week-end. Mrs G. McGaughey has been holidaying in Feilding. Mr and Mrs A. J. West, Lower Hutt, have been the guests of Mr and Mrs W. Kelly. Mrs Wickstead is visiting her mother, Mrs Honeyfield, at “Egmont View.’’ Miss B. Hill spent the week-end at Eltham. The funeral of the late Bertram Fitzwater took place at the Patea Cemetery on Monday. The pallbearers were Messrs Hickey, Martin, Fanner, Willis, Anderson, Barnes, and a large number of floral emblems testified to the young man's popularity.
