REGENT THEATRE

“THE GO-GETTER” Packed with action and full of thrills, comic and intriguing in dialogue and situations, “The Go-Get ter,’ Warner Bros.’ latest and finest release brings to the Regent Tneatre an outstanding piece ol entertainment. The lilm has a robustness that could not fail to captivate, but the acting of its principals raises it far above the ordinary standard of screen entertainment. Charles Winninger, of “Show Boat” and “Three Smart Girls,” takes the honours in a diilicult but outstanding role. George Brent gives one of his best performances as the “GoGetter” and Anita Louise plays with great distinction the feminine lead. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Peter B. Kync. Winninger’s acting is alone enough to carry the lilm to the forefront. He is the peppery, pathetic, comic, and at times futile Cappy in every scene, and his human and sensitive portrayal is equalled only by that of Brent as Bill Austin, the man whose motto, “It shall be done,” has been instilled from the days when he served in a United States airship. Brent shares with Anita Louise a taunting romance typical of Kyne’s best lictionary idylls

and the film has cleverly turned ths suspense and sentiment of this romance to an essential yet not obtrusive part of the story. A dramatic airship disaster opens the story, showing the heroism of Brent in remaining at his post, his subsequent reward when a cripple, and his start at job-hunting. He finds work with Cappy Ricks after numerous difficulties. He meets Anita Louise (Ricks’ daughter), and mistaking her for a fellow-unfortunate looking for employment, arranges to meet her again. Meanwhile Ricks, though making Brent’s progress hard, quickly sees his worth. In a climax as exciting as hilarious, Ricks buys up all the tickets on the steamer by which Brent and the daughter intend sailing on their honeymoon, only to be outwitted by the man who has now become his son-in-law.
