NIXON—O’HARA

The marriage of Miss Laura May O’Hara, daughter of Mrs and the late Mr C. N. O’Hara, of Wanganui, and Mr Lindsay Nixon, eldest son of Mr and Mrs L. Nixon, of Wanganui, took place at Christ Church, Wicksteed Street, on Saturday, October 2. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Archdeacon J. R. Young, assisted by the Rev. Burley. The bride walked down the aisle with her uncle, Mr L. Carveil, preceded by the choir and bridesmaids. Her pretty frock was of heavy white

satin, with fully-gathered bodice, sleeves shirred at the shoulders, and skirt with a row of buttons down centre front and flaring to a train at the back. Her long tulie veil, edged with silver leaves, fell from a silver halo. She wore a golden locket, the gift of the bridegroom, silver sandals, and carried a sheaf of flowers. 7 he attendants were her sister, Mrs A. Chambers, as matron of honour and Misses Una and Joyce Carswell, of Wellington. Their dresses were of white tulle and lace with large puffed sleeves and veils were worn as headdresses with circlets of tiny flowers. They wore silver sandals and Ciro pearls (the bridegroom’s gifts) and their sheafs were of sunset pink flowers. The duties of best man and groomsmen wore performed by Mr A. Chambers, of Kohuratahi, and Messrs Ron Gilbert and Gilbert Sloss (Marton). Following the ceremony the guests were received by the bride’s mother at the Rendezvous. Mrs O’Hara wore a frock of dark mulberry velvet ornamented with a large cameo, and her velour hat was to match. She held a bouquet of sunset pink roses. For going away the bride wore a bottle green suit and halo hat with accessories to tone.
