DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB THE SEASON OPENED The Wanganui Defence Rifle Club opened its season on Labour Day. In the morning the usual President v. Vice-President’s teams match was fired and resulted in a draw. The a conditions were good and some very good scores were put on. The possible was reached by R. Goldstone and F. J. Soler at 500 yards, these two members scoring 102, a very creditable performance, while E. Farley scored 101. E. Farley and J. O’Keefe both scored 101 in a practice shoot last Saturday. d In the afternoon a trophy shoot was held when conditions changed t _ considerably from the morning. A right rear wind getting up, tested out g most marksmen, but E. Farley and A. Doidge both registered a possible at 500 yards. The winner turned up in P. C. Hamilton, with 102. Farley was • s second with 101. Rifleman Farley is to be congratur_ lated on being selected in the ’ New Zealand team to visit Australia 4 next year.
