SEVERAL RECORDS BROKEN FEATS AT WELLINGTON [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Oct. 24. The breaking of five New Zealand and three Australasian records made specially notable the third annual amateur championships of the New Zealand Weight-Lifting Association on Saturday night. Moie than 3U competitors look part in the programme, which last four hours. All the new records established will be officially recognised throughout the world.

H. Cleghorn (Auckland) won the heavyweight championship, in each of three lifts break’ ig the Australasian record formerly established by himself. His performances were, with the previous records in parentheses: Two hands military press, 2201 b. (215); two hands snatch, 2301bs (225); two hands clean jerk, 305 Mb.

L. Hogan, of Auckland, the only New Zealander to hold official world records at weight-lifting, won the middleweight championship and also broke his own New Zealand middleweight records for two hands military press and two hands snatch with 175" lbs and 190 Mbs respectively. A. Angrove, of Napier, won the lightweight championship, taking the Anderton Challenge Shield from last year’s winner, A. J. Darby, of Wanganui. Angrove also broke the New Zealand lightweight record for two hands clean jerk with 226ilbs, his previous record being 2231b5. A. Dick, of Wellington, won the featherweight championship with 143 lbs., defeating E. Askew, of Auckland, who recently won the Australasian junior featherweight title. Askew broke the featherweight record for two hands snatch with 150Mbs.

L. Harris, of Napier, holder of several New Zealand records, took the light-heavyweight title, defeating K. Young, Auckland junior provincial champion.
