WOMAN BEFORE COURT [ Per Press Association. ] ASHBURTON, Oct. 22. A sequel to an incident on September 13, when Albert Wm. Murdoch was wounded in the neck by a rifle bullet, was heard in the Magistrate s Court on his wife, Ellen Anne Murdoch, being charged first with committing assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and secondly with presenting a firearm without sufficient lawful purpose. Accused pleaded guilty to the second charge, the police withdrawing the first. The police said that, following a quarrel, accused seized a rifle which had been left loaded. Counsel said that Mrs. Murdoch was highly strung and seized the rifle hardly knowing what she was doing but with no intent to injure her husband. She was horrified when the rifle exploded. The magistrate ordered her to come up for sentence if called on within two years
