HITHER AND THITHER

Klexeina Skin Treatment. Readers are asked to note that the principal of the Klexima Skin Treatment will be visiting W’anganui on Friday and Saturday, October 29 and 30, with headquarters at the Rutland Hotel. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evenings, 7 to 8 p.m. Consultations free.* Carnival Dance. To-night a special holiday dance is being held in St. John’s Hall by the Harrier and Boat Clubs, instead of the usual Tuesday night dance. There will be a special Monte Carlo and new novelties. The music will be supplied by the Midnight Revellers’ Dance Band. Women Golfers Entertained. After a foursome played at Belmont on Friday about eighty members of the Wanganui Women’s Golf Club were entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs. N. G. Armstrong at her home at Castleciiff. Mrs. Armstrong has been an active member of the club for many years. She was thanked by Miss Montgomery Mcure (president) for her hospitality and help to the club in the past, and hoped she would be a member for many more years. Druids’ Hall Dance. To-night (Monday) dancing will be

held in the pleasant surroundings of the Druids’ Hall. A delightful programme has ben arranged for this “Carnival Dance,” inclusive of streamers, novelties, and Monte Carlos. Patrons are assured of a first-class evening’s entertainment. Girl Custodian.

An important position is now being filled by a young South African girl, Miss Stella Chiappini, who has been made custodian of a new art gallery at Capetown. Miss Chiappini is said to be one of the most genuinely artistic people in Capetown and has earned a reputation for her keen perception and her sound knowledge of art. A Golfing Achievement. A performance which must surely be without precedent in Auckland women’s golf was achieved by Mrs. H. R. Hughes at Middlemore when she finished 8 up in a bogey competition (says the Star). Rarely is “the colonel” beaten in women’s golf, and needless to say Mrs. Hughes played strokes better than her handicap. She is on a 13 mark, and her medal round was 76, or only four over the scratch score of the course.
