AUCKLAND CLUB SPRING MEETING OPENS WIN FOR LADY FAME [ Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Oct. 23. Showery weather was experienced for the opening day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s spring meeting. In a close finish Lady Fame gained the verdici by a neck from Kenworthy, who was a head in front of Kewpie’s King with a similar distance back to Nervie’s Last, fourth. Gold Dredge made the running, but was joined three furlongs from home by King’s Warrior, the pair leading into the straight clear of Ironside. In a good finish, King’s Warrior won by a neck from his bracketed mate with a similar distance to Gold Dredge, the fourth horse being Bingen Chief. Acceptances for To-day.
