OBITUARY
DIR. WM. ALLAN, MOSGIEL. [ Per Press Association. ] DUNEDIN, Oct. 22. The death occurred this morning of a well-known resident of Mosgiel, Mr. William Allan, after a short illness. Mr. Allan was a partner in the legal firm of Webb, Allan, Walker and Anderson. He was 69 years of age and received his education at the East Taieri School and Otago Boys’ High School. He served his articles with Mr. Webb and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in 1894, the same year joining Mr. Webb in partnership. He took a lively interest in a wide variety of activities in the Mosgiel district, being for a term Mayor and for many years borough solicitor. Mr. Allan was a staunch Presbyterian and was connected with the East Taieri Church from childhood. He was a keen sportsman and played both Rugby and bowls. He was a member of the Taieri Football Club and after his retirement from the game was president. He was for 28 years a director of the firm of Thompson, Bridger Ltd. Mr. Allan is survived by his widow and three daughters.
