LORD RUTHERFORD’S DEATH
LOSS TO BRITISH GOVERNMENT Received Oct. 22, 10.20 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 22. Sir Thomas Inskip, in a letter tf the Times, pays a tribute to Lord Rutherford’s services to the Government. He says: “Those who worked with him in directing research in certain directions alone know how in< valuable was his help.” NELSON TRIBUTES A MEMORIAL SERVICE [ Per Press Association. ] NELSON, Oct. 22. Referring to the death of Lord Rutherford, Mr. G. L. Page, Mayor; of Nelson, said the city was indeed indebted to Lord Rutherford for th« honour bestowed on it in choosing fo< his title Lord Rutherford of Nelson< Students of Nelson College will at< tend a memorial service in Nelsoij Cathedral on Sunday. Mr. F. Milner, rector of WaitakJ Boys’ High School and a contemporary of Lord Rutherford at Nelson College, in a message to the principal, e.xpressed deepest sympathy in the loss of its greatest son, “whose brilliant scientific achievements lent lustre to Nelson College and gained the admiration of the whole world.”
