ANNUAL RE-UNION

TECHNICAL COLLEGE PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES Plans for the annual x e-union of past students of tne Wanganui Technical College have been carciuily laid, and a comprehensive programme to cover the week-end s activities has been drawn up. To-day at *2 p.m. a cricket match is to be played on the school ground ana the teams will comprise old boys and present pupils. At 2.30 tennis is to be played on the school courts at which all past pupils will be made welcome. At 6 p.m. the old boys’ dinner is to be held in the Rendezvous and old girls will have their tea in the Royale Willows. One of the highlights ot the activities—the social—is to commence at 8 to-night in the assembly hall. At this function past pupils will have the best opportunity of the entire activities of renewing old acquaintences and discussing happenings almost forgotten. It. is to this social that the committee extends a welcome to all, and the admission charges have been made reasonable in order to ensure a good attendance.

To-morrow at 7 p.m. a re-union service is to be held in the assembly hall which will be entirely undenominational in nature, and conducted by past students of the school. Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Newton have kindly consented to give an “at home” following this service at their residence, 9 St. Leonards Street, St. Joh'h’s Hill.

On Monday ladies’ hockey and soccer are to be played on the hostel grounds at 10.30 a.m. Men’s hockeywill be played on the same ground later in the morning. The rowing race is to start at the Dublin Street Bridge at 1.30 p.m. and four house crews, in which old boys will compete against the school, will line up at the start. Tennis, basketball, and a Rugby match are to be played at the school, commencing at 2.30 p.m. The closing function of the celebrations, the ball, is to take place in the school assembly hall at 8.15 on Monday night, and if last year’s function is any criterion this event should be a great success.

Sporting Fixtures. Past pupils of the Wanganui Technical College wishing to participate in the sports activities during the reunion are requested to communicate with the secretary, Mr G. A. Thompson, as soon as possible. Some teams have been selected and are as follows: Basketball. —This game is to be played at the school grounds at 2.30 p.m. on Monday. The old girls' team is: Attack, Patty Woods, Mary Croon, Melva Paul; centre, Valerie Howells, Winnie Goddard, Audrey Gleeson; defence, Eileen Waters, Betty Gowan, Marie Brown.

Men’s Hockey.—The hockey game is to be played on the hostel grounds at 10.30 a.m. and the team to represent old boys is yet to be selected. Rowing.—The race is to be held on Monday at 1.30 p.m., and will start from the Dublin Street Bridge and finish at the Groyne. Old Boys’ crews are as follows: E. Day (str.), E. J. Hutchins (3), C. Coull (2), B. Crutchley (bow), and B. F. Boyland (str.), Breed (3), R. Blackmore (2), Grant (bow). The school crew has drawn the inside position, and Day’s and Royland’s the next two positions in that order. The crews are to be on the water at 1.15. Day’s crew is to leave from the Union Shed and Royland’s from Wanganui. Ladies' Hockey.—A team will be selected from the following players: L. Spicer, J. Byres, E. Moore, M. Seddon, A. Peffers, M. McCormick, C. Owen, I. Berryman, A. Liddle, G. Goffe, P. Gurr, J. Gurr. This game will be played on the hostel grounds at 10.30 a.m. on Monday.

Rugby.—The team will not be selected until after the dinner to-night, when those available will be known. Tennis Teams.—These will be drawn from the following: —Men: K. Welsh, G. Couchman, J. D. Gordon, Anderson, Breed and Ralph. Ladies: Misses M. Svcnson, Madeley, Ferris, Delves and Goffe.
