CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL RACE SCHOOL ACTIVITIES The annual cross-country race of the tVanganui Intermediate School was ! held last week, but owing to a number of competitors following a wrong course it was decided to withhold publication of results until an enquiry had been made. It was found that the boys competing for the championship all followed the correct trail and therefore the results were in order. In the results given the abbreviations for houses are: Ballance (B), Campbell (C), Taylor (T), Wakefield (W). Durrant, first man home, was off scratch and therefore annexed the championship as well as individual honours. Results were:—Durrant (T) 1, Hutchinson (C) 2, Hopper (C) 3, Motley
(T) 4, Stone (T) 5, Curtis (W) 6. Championship: Durrant (T) X Hopper (B) 2, Bowes (B) 3. Timo:—22min. House points were: Ballance 27 4 Campbell 82, Taylor 72, Wakefield 39. Forthcoming Events | The tabloid sports for the school are 'to be held on Wednesday afternoon next. I nthis event all pupils of the school must participate in a series of set events and to gain points must attain a standard for each. Cricket is to start the following Wednesday, and the girls will embark upon their summer sports programme on the same day. The baths are undergoing repairs af 1 the present time but it is hoped that j this work will be completed in the near future. The annual swimming sports will probably be held this year.
