Further Rise In Note Issue LONDON FUNDS HIGHER The weekly statement of assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, as at the close of business on Monday, October 18, is as follows:
Proportion of reserve (No. 7 less No. 5) to notes and other demand liabilities, 78.282 per cent., compared with 78.611 per cent, on October 11. Sterling exchange totals £17,709,272, an increase of £141,839. Gold is still unchanged at £2,801,791. Subsidiary coin at £88,343 shows a decrease of £4291.
Advances to the State dairy industry account show an increase of £172,108, the total amount being £3,778,988. Advances to the State for other purposes are unchanged at £500,000. Investments show no change at Other assets total £58,954, a decrease of £16,201. A further increase of £36,197 in the note issue brings the total up to £13,117,229. Demand liabilities to the State amount to £5,130,605, a decrease of £103,049. The trading banks’ reserve balances at £7,402,238 have increased by £234,094. Other demand liabilities amount to £551,170, an increase of £122,883. Other liabilities at £142,555 have increased by £3329. The statement balances at £27,843,797, an increase of £293,445.
