POPULAR PRIEST DIES

FORTITUDE IN SUDDEN ILLNESS NOTED WORK AMONG NATIVES ( Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Oct. 21. After developing an acute appendicitis last week and peritonitis on Saturday last, the Rev. Father Bernard Kreymborg, of Dargaville, preached two sermons and celebrated two masses on Sunday before leaving for the Mater Misericordiae Hospital on Monday. In spite of the fortitude he had shown, Father Kreymborg did not recover from an operation which was performed on Monday, and he died on Wednesday night. Born in Holland 65 years ago, he left for New Zealand in 1902. A keen student of Maori, like most of his confreres in New Zealand, Father Kreymborg was highly esteemed by the natives of the North. His brother, Father Charles Kreymborg, was one of the best-known of the Mil Hill Fathers in New Zealand. Priest and architect, he was an indefatigable worker among the natives and built many fine churches, schools and convents. He was killed when a motorcar capsized on the Rotorua-Taupo road in 1928. Another passenger in the car was the late Dean van Dyck, superior of the Mill Hill Fathers in New Zealand, whose death was hastened as a result of the accident.
