PROTEST TO BOARD BOXERS’ MANAGERS DID NEUSEL DESERVE WIN? LONDON, Oct. 20. Strickland's manager, BiJi Daly, announces that he is protesting to the British Board of Control against the referee’s decision in Neusel’s favour. Daly says that he wants to see the 1 referee’s card to ascertain how Neusel gained the points. Jack Smith, the referee, says: “I have been refereeing for forty years and have not had this sort of trouble before. I made Neusel the winner on points and will show my card to the stewards and to nobody else.” Neusel’s manager, Paul Damski, says: “Despite my own wishes I was drawn into heated arguments after the fight. It is true I went to Strickland’s corner after Neusel had been cautioned for holding, as Neusel explained that he had not been holding but that Strickland had prevented him from breaking. I am appealing to the Boxing Board.” Daly laughingly said: “I would like ten rounds with Damski, but, seriously, I told him he must not approach myfighter.”
