SMALL JAPANESE GAIN
NANKING’S REPORT [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Oct. 21. The following Nanking cablegram has been received by the Chinese Consul: The Japanese made a small gain west of the Liuhang-Dazang highway. Thirty tanks supporting another Japanese column pushed eastward. There was severe fighting on the left of Wentsaopang. The Chinese successfully held their line and the Japanese were driven back. The Japanese resumed activities in the Lotion area, but quiet reigns on the Chapei front. The Japanese bombed Dazang, Chenju, Pootung, and Sungkiang station and the Hungjao bridge.
