JEAN BATTEN’S FLIGHT
INTERVIEWED AT RANGOON. RANGOON, Oct. 20. Miss Jean Batten, who arrived at 4.36 p.m., Burma time, expects to take off for Allahabad at 3 a.m. She said that the flight had so far been uneventful. She hoped to be in London on time, ; rovided the weather was favourable.
Miss Batten said that thus far she had not had a bad time. She took a slightly eastern course from Mergui. Then after passing Tavoy she followed the Burma coast for six and a-half hours from Alor Star to Rangoon. She hoped to beat the record provided the weather was favourable. She arrived here at 10.6 a.m. (G.M.T.) and expects to take off for Allahabad at 8.30 p.m.
Her log reads (G.M.T.): Monday— Left Darwin 9.30 p.m. Tuesday—arrived Batavia 9.1 a.m.; departed 6.30 p.m. Wednesday—Arrived Alor Star 2.25 a.m.; took off 3.25 a.m.; arrived Rangoon 10.6 a.m.
