The senior boys’ cricket competition was opened last Saturday when some good performances were recorded. Rangers 155 (W. Farrell 65, G. Zohs 29, S. Hunt 25) secured an innings victory over Aramoho, for whom D. Pettis and J. Stewart were the best bowlers. For Rangers, N. Barnes took three for 12 and D. Blick four for 3.

Roamers defeated Rovers on the first innings. Roamers scored 104 and in the second innings 75 for 5 wickets declared in the second (D. Hodge, 28 not out, H. Pidwell 24 not out), Rovers were all out for 49 (T. Bates 22) and in the second innings 49 for 5 wickets (T. Bates 32) at stumps. The best bowling performances were J. Palmer seven for 13; T. Bates, live for 17 and four for 22? Gonville defeated Wanganui East by an innings, scoring 107 (Jeromson 34, D. Sullivan 22) to Wanganui East 37 and 60 (J. Earles 17, I. Strichen 16). For Gonville, D. Sullivan took five wickets in each innings while W. Daley took live n the first innings. For Wanganui East, D. Limpus took three wickets, and N. Breed 2.
