CAPPY RICKS STORY
“THE GO-GETTER.” “The Go-Getter,” which will open a season at the Regent Theatre next Wednesday, brings to the screen that most popular of all Peter B. Kyne’s creations, Cappy Ricks. The irascible, but likeable, character of the old ship-owner is almost ideally suited to the personality of Charles Winninger, who takes that part in the film. He storms and threatens in vain, but finally gains his desire by an entirely unexpected display of the softer side of his nature. Much of the humour of the picture, apart from Winninger’? delightful characterisation, arises from the conflict between Cappy Ricks and his prospective son-in-law, Bill Austin, played by George Brent.
