GOLF. The Waverley Ladies Golf Club will hold their closing day to-day (Thursday) commencing at 9.30, when a medal round will be played in the morning and a Canadian foursome in the afternoon. An approach and putt competition and putting competition will also be held in the afternoon. General Meeting. At the annual general meeting of the ladies Golf Club held on Tuesday evening the election of officers was as follows:—President, Mrs. Handley; captain, Mrs. Gibbons; vice-captain, Mrs. D. Lupton; secretary, Mrs. Dallison; L.G.U, secretary, Mrs. S. Aiken (re-elected for the 13th. year); assistant L.G.U. secretary, Miss T. Aiken; committee, Mesdames Bromiley and Casey. PERSONAL. Mrs. Cleary was the guest of honour at a very happy family party last week, when she celebrated her 86th. birthday. She was the recipient of many congratulatory telegrams from various parts of New Zealand. The handsome birthday cake made by Miss K. Cleary had been beautifully iced by Miss 1. Cheyne, a very old friend of the family, and was decorated with 86 candles. The members of the family present were: Miss K. Cleary, Mr. and Mrs. Coyle (Sydney), Mr. and Mrs. Hodgson, Misses *F. and E. Cleary (Palmerston North), Mr. P. Cleary (Christchurch).

Mrs. Coyle (Sydney) who has been the guest of her mother, Mrs. Cleary, is now visiting her daughter in Inglewood, Misses B. Lourie (Marton) and j. Speedy (WaipuKuraiD have been the guests of Mrs. A. J. Alexander. Mrs. R. Aroa, New Plymouth, is the guest of Mrs. Sheppard. Mrs. Lance and her small son, who have been the guests of Mrs. Walkinton, “Belmont,” have returned home. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Wallace are Waverley visitors to Wellington.
