MALTING BARLEY
PRICES INCREASED [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, Oct. 19. The following increases in the prices of superior malting barley, No. 1 grade, were announced by the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. W. Leo Martin, in the course of a statement to-day: Central Otago, 4Jd per bushel on trucks, a similar increase being made in the case of Southland barley. The increase for the Canterbury and North Otago districts amount to 101 d land for the Marlborough and Nelson I districts lid, the latter applying to the I price of grain in store. The new I prices will be: Central Otago, 5s 4Jd; Southland, Canterbury and North Otago, 4s lOld (both on trucks); and Marlborough and Nelson, 4s lOld in store. The Minister also announced that the Barley Advisory Committee had the matter of amending the grading standards for barley in hand.
