FLOODS IN VICTORIA

SERIOUS DAMAGE REPORTED. MELBOURNE, Oct. 19. Continuous rains caused serioui flooding in central and Eastern Victoria. A gigantir wall of water is approaching Kooweerup, in Gippsland, and a special train has been rushed to the town to evacuate the inhabitants. Floods in he Yarra Valley caused heavy losses of stock and serious damage to farms. Many homes near Melbourne are inundated. FLOOD DANGER PASSED Received Oct. 19, 10.50 p.m. MELBOURNE, Oct. 19. There has been no rain in the metropolitan area since last night. Most of the rivers and creeks are receding and the general flood peril appears to have passed. The river Yarra overflowed near Kew and reached the doorsteps ot houses. It partly covered three golf courses and seriously damaged market gardens. One hundred square miles of rich fields and farms were inundated in the Southern Gippsland.
