The report of the librarian at the Alexander Library, Miss A. M. Blackett, adopted at last evening’s meeting of the Wanganui City Council, stated that 15,230 books were issued during September compared with 14,563 in September of last year. The membership on September 30 was 2044 compared with 1947 in September last year. The number of books issued during the six months ended on September 30 was 92,379 compared with 85,996 during the corresponding period of 1936. This represented an increase of 6383 books or an average of more than a thousand books a month increase.
