BUTTER AND CHEESE

INCREASED SHIPMENTS Shipments of butter last month totalled 11,965 tons, as compared with 8686 tons for September, 1936, an increase of 3279 tons. According to returns supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board, shipments for the first two months of the current season totalled 22,703 tons, as compared with 18,673 tons for August and September, 1936, an increase [of 4030 tons. Details of the two months’ shipments compare as follows :

Shipments of cheese last month totalled 6712 tons, as compared with 4281 tons for September, 1936, an increase of 2431 tons. Shipments for the two months showed an increase of 2958 tons, details being as follows:-

Shipments of butter from Australia to the United Kingdom last month were 3571 tons, compared with 4354 in September, 1936, a decrease of 782 tons. For the two months shipments totalled 5141 tons, compared with 7112 tons for August-September, 1936, a decrease of 1971 tons. Cheese shipments for the two months were 795 tons, as against 65 tons for the same period last year.
