JUDGMENT FOR CROWN
AMMUNITION CO.’S CLAIM [ Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Oct. 19. Judgment for the Crown was delivered to-day by Mr. Justice Reed in the action brought by the Colonial Ammunition Company claiming £6193, alleged to be short paid by the Crown in respect of the purchase of ammunition. Costs were allowed respondent according to scale and the disbursement to be ascertained by the registrar. The question raised related to a contract entered into in 1924 for the supply of small arms ammunition for! Dominion requirements as to whether, there should be added to the contract price the exchange in order to arrive at the price payable by the Crown. Suppliant contended that in respect to the years 1936 and 1937, the current War Office price should be converted into New Zealand currency. His Honour upheld the contention of the Crown that the number of pounds paid in London were to be the same in New Zealand.
