THEATRICAL AGENT’S DEATH
NEW YORK, Oct. 3. Mr. Ray Henderson, who was drowned in the sinking of the Imperial Airways flying-boat Courtier in Phaleron Bay, was the agent of the American actress, Miss Katherine Cornell.
Mr. Ray Henderson visited Wellington in July in connection with the proposed world tour of Miss Katharine Cornell, the famous American actress. He had been connected with the theatrical profession since 1912, in which year he acted as advance agent for Sir Johnston Forbes-Robert-son in the United States. For some years he was with George Arliss and toured the Slates when the English star played in "Old English” and "The Green Goddess.” He also represented Julia Marlowe, William Faversham, and Ethel Barrymore, the last-men-tioned during her tour in “The Kingl dom of God.” He joined Miss Cornell | with "The Barretts of Wimpole Street.” He is believed to have been a California and when in N.Z. he planned to travel up through Australia to China and Japan, going on to India and Egypt later. However, it is believed the Far East disturbance caused him to alter his plans.
