HOBSONVILLE AIR BASE IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS [ Ter Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Oct. 18. Important developments at Hobsonville air base, part of a big scheme for the expansion of New Zealand's air arm as the first line of defence, are planned under the eighteen months’ constructional programme which is to be put in hand immediately. The base is intended mainly for repair and a scores depot for the Air Force. Additional land adjoining the aerodrome site has been taken over, nousing accommodation is to be provided lor the increased stalling and the landing ground is to be extended to provide for big bombing craft. The Public orks Department is now calling tenders for extensions to the main accommodation block to provide for an increase in the ground staff' from 57 to 171, as Hobsonville will take a largo proportion of the youths recently enlisted in the Air Force.
