TRIBUTE TO AWATEA
CAPTAIN CONGRATULATED MESSAGE FROM MONTEREY Received Oct. 18, 9.30 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 18. Upon the arrival o£ the Awatea today Captain Davey received a picture postcard showing the Monterey and inscribed “Hearty congratulations’’ from Captain Johanson of the Monterey upon the achievement of a record Tasman crossing, “which will long remain a tribute to your fine ship.” Capt. Davey said he deeply appreciated the splendid gesture from the rival liner's commander.
