FIRE AT BLENHEIM
BRIGADE’S GOOD SAVE. [ Ter Tress Association.) BLENHEIM, Oct. 18. The efficiency of the Fire Brigade late on Saturday afternoon prevented gn outbreak of fire sweeping one of Blenheim's most extensive blocks of wooden shops. The outbreak originated in the workshop of Mr. M. A. Wiffen, radio serviceman, and extended to the Chinese laundry at the rear. These premises were damaged. A third shop, occupied by Messrs. J. O’Sullivan and Son, bootmakers, were affected by smoke and water. A considerable quantity of linen suffered damage in the laundry. The insurance on the buildings, owned by the Wensley estate, was f5OO with Lloyd’s. Mr. Wiffen's stock was insured for £175 in the South British.
