EMPIRE GAMES TEAM BRITISH REPRESENTATIVES. STOKES REPLACES CHALMERS. Received O"t. 18, 9.20 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 18. Connal K. Stokes, who finished second to Chalmers in the 200 metres at the British championships, will replace Chalmers in the Empire Games team. WEST COAST CENTRE (N. 1. ANNUAL MEETING HELD GAMES TRIALS DISCUSSED The annual meeting of the West Coast Centre (N. 1. was held last evening when delegates from various sub-centres on the coast gathered to discuss athletic affairs and elect officers for the ensuing year. The election resulted as follow: President, Mr G. A. Benson; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. A. Rusden; vice-presidents (presidents ot three sub-centres); starter and handicapper, left to officials of sub-centre where championships are to be held; local officers, Messrs Whiting {Taranaki), Kilpatrick (Manawatu), and A. C. Bourgeois (Wanganui); hon. auditor, Mr A. Weekes; hon. solicitor, Mr P. Dixon; selectors, the three local officers; delegates to New Zealand Council, Messrs D. Macpherson and G. S. Leeder. The championship meetings for the ensuing year were allocated to various centres, who have the option of accepting or declining the meetings. West Coast harrier championships, Manawatu; New Zealand harrier championships, Taranaki; sub-centre athletic championships, Taihape; West Coast (N. 1. championships, Taranaki. Discussion regarding trials for the Empire Games occupied the attention of the meeting. It was decided that the sub-centres be circularised for nominations and that trials be held at two places on the coast.
