Ideal weather conditions and a fast track favoured the second day of the Avondale Jockey Club’s second spring meeting, held at Avondale to-day. There was a good attendance and the totalisator handled £19,941, compared with £18,923 last year, an increase of £lOlB. Con Fuoco joined Fersen in the lead and they carried on the running. Fersen and Con Fuoco came into the straight together. A furlong from the post Jonathan attempted to go through on the rails but was badly checked. However, an opening came a little later and he got through to win by a neck from Fersen, who beat Aiinacourt by a length and a-quarter. WAITEMATA HANDICAP (Of £275; if miles.)
