DELIGHTFUL CONCERT

AT NURSES’ HOME. The nursing staff of the Wanganui Hospital gave pleasure to many friends by inviting them to a concert held in the nurses’ new home on Thursday evening. The concert was given in aid of a swimming pool for the nurses. A successful evening was assured from the start by the variety of the items offered. Two one-act plays were included in the excellent programme presented, and the performancs given reflected great credit on the producer, Miss V. Ruscoe, who had spared no efiort to make the plays the success they were. Many of the performers on the programme possessed natural ability and their items gave much pleasure to the audience. The first play, “Two Naughty Old Ladies,” was played by Misses Isabel Cochran, Leonie Stent, Alfreda Black- ' burn, Morva Mason and Isabel Sudi daby. The second play “Sing a Song ■ o’ Sixpence” was enacted by Kathleen I Powell, Joan Rankin, Doreen Barnes, : Jean Hughson, Isabelle Clarke and * Isabel Suddaby. Other excellent I I items were several recitations by Isai belle Clarke; dance, Miss Olive Mar- ' chant; solos, Miss Ngaire Astbury j Monologue, Miss Doreen Barnes; I pianoforte solo, Miss Alfreda Blacki burn, who also sang a duet with Miss • Sybil Amon; Minuet “To A Minia- ! Lure,” Misses Olive Marchant and 1 Doreen Barnes and a character song ! by Misses Isabel Cockran, Jean Campbell and Olive Howatson.
