WANGANUI CINE SOCIETY

FIRST ANNUAL REPORT ACTIVITIES SINCE INCEPTION The annual meeting of the Wanganui Amateur Cine Society was held recently, when the following oflicers were elected: President, Mr. B. R. Dobbs; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. Wansbough; committee, Messrs. A. Tasker, H. Fowler and K. Broughton. The annual report read as follows:

“At the commencement of the year the membership of the society was small, but none the less enthusiastic. It is the object of the society to assist members with their problems and increase their knowledge of cinematography.

“The first activity was at the air pageant held in March of this year when “shooting," in which close-ups and new angles were tried, proved successful. The result of the day’s activities were screened later. The society has conducted “experimental nights” during which screening in artificial light has been tried, and this branch of the art has been more or less mastered. With this done consideration has been given to the filming of a play. New property is being added and it is felt that a play by the society could be a success. To widen the range of members’ knowledge a library has been formulated. “It is with regret that the impending departure from Wanganui of Mr. A. Tingey, who has proved a capable president up to this time, is viewed. He has been responsible in a large measure for the success of the society to date, and his loss will be a severe one.” In view of Mr. Tingey’s services to the society he was elected a life member. It is hoped that any persons wishing to take up cinematography will get into touch with the president, Mr. B. R. Dobbs.
