LAKE ROTO AIKA CASE CROWN APPEAL DROPPED When the test case against eight Auckland sportsmen, charged with fishing .on Lake Roto Aire, in the Taupo district, contrary to the regulations, was dismissed by Mr. C. R, Orr Walker. S.M., who held the regulations invalid, an appeal was lodged by the Crown on a point of Jaw. The case involved the right nf Europeans to fish in the waters of this lake, which have hitherto been reserved solely lor ihe members of a local Maori tribe. Advice was received in Auckland from Wellington on Thursday that the appeal is not to be proceeded with. The confiscated fishing gear was restored to the sportsmen concerned some little lime ago.
