MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING There was a fair attendance at the weekly shoot of the Sandon Miniature Rifle Club on Thursday night when members fired the usual two bursts of seven rounds each, with one optional sighter. K. M. Pearce and J. C. Fagan recorded the best score, ! both with 139, being equal for the A I grade buttons; the B grade winner was B Masters with 134, and the C 'grade J. Palmer with 137. A match, i married men v. single men, was won by the former with a score of 807 to 801.
Following are the detailed scores: — K. M. Pearce 69, 70—139; J. C. Fagan 70, 69—139; J. Palmer 68, 69—137; B. Masters 65, K. Masters 68, 63—131; J. W. Meyer 67, 66—133; W. A. Lumsden 70, 68—138; R. McKay 62, 65—127; K. Lumsden 70, 66—136, E. Green 69, 65—134; H. Henson 64, 63 —132; N. Ashworth 62, 63—125; R. Meyer 66, 64 —130; R. Lumsden 68, 63 —131; and E. Lumsden 66, 66—132.
A team from the local club met a Feilding team at Feilding on Wednesday in a further shoot for the McKclvie Cup. The home team scored another win, but with a much less margin, the final scores being Feilding 1078 and Sandon 1069. SCHOOL BALL I The Sanson School annual fancy ’dress ball which is to be held at San|don on Friday, October 22, is a funcition looked forward to by the children I for months ahead. For some weeks ’now the children have been practising .various folk dances and this year’s |event should prove a most enjoyable [function for all concerned.
A meeting of the ladies committee [was held this week and arrangements I were completed with regard to the [supper and other details.
