THREE IN HOSPITAL
AUCKLAND ACCIDENT MOTOR-CYCLE, BICYCLE AND TRAMCAR. [ Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Oct. 15. Three persons are in Auckland Hospital as a result of an accident involving a motor-cycle, a bicycle and a tram-car in New North Road this evening. Each is suffering from concussion and abrasions but none was reported to be in a serious condition. The victims of the accident were: Allan Potter, a brass founder, aged 22; Neil Henry Corkin, a brass finisher, aged 21, and Kenneth Maurice Burns, aged 12. A fourth victim, Noel Brett, aged about 10, received slight cuts and after medical attention, was taken to his home.
Corkin was driving a motor-cycle in the direction of Avondale and had Potter as a pillion-rider. When near a corner they collided with a bicycle ridden by burns and carrying Brett on the bar. The motor-cycle became out of control and the two young men were thrown in the path of a citybound tram. Although the tram was stopped promptly Corkin was caught between the fender and the road and dragged several feet. Potter narrowly escaped being hit, while the two boys on the bicycle fell heavily.
