BALL AT SANDON

TABLE TENNIS CLUB FUNCTION , A most successful ball was Held in Sandon on Wednesday evening to mark the closing of the 1937 season of the Sandon Table Tennis Club. Visitors had come from Palmerston North, Feilding, Marton, Napier, Rongotea, Levin, \vaituna West and Bulls. Members of the committee who combined enthusiastically to make the function one of the most enjoyable held in Sandon this year were: Mesdames T. H. Williams, black velvet and white; P. Gedye, mulberry ring velvet and lace; T. A. Adams, chocolate cloque; E. J. Davey, Walls blue marocain; R. Lumsden, scarlet crepe; E. N. Butler, black silk and georgette; D. Leitch, check organdie with cherry; F. W. Tostevin, black velvet; Misses P. Meyer, buttercup silk marocain; J. Butler, pink lace georgette; M. Butler, blue taffeta; J. Davey, blue satin, and Z. Bishop, pink uncrushable.

The ballroom presented a gay scene; overhead a pretty colour scheme of pink and gold streamers had been carried out, while effective use was made with touches of greenry on the walls. A lounge had also been tastefully decorated.

During the evening the club’s president, Mr E. N. Butler, presented the Patron's Cup for the club championship, the winner being Mr A. C. Matthews. Mr A. C. Matthews, who is president of the Te Kawau Tennis Association, presented the trophies won by the local club, to Messrs R. Meyer and R. Bishop. Among those present were; Mrs W. E.
