Y.M.C.A. Fair. The Ladies’ Auxiliary, Y.M.C.A., are holding a fair in the building on Friday at 10.30 a.m. There will be various stalls and competitions, also afternoon tea. “Frigidaire” Household Cabinets. Patrons are assured of a very pleasant evening. Trussell’s Orchestra will provide the music for the programme which will satisfy all tastes. The dance is not exclusive to members of the staff and dancing people are invited to avail themselves of a very pleasant evening. Townswomen's Guild. Mrs. J. G. Denniston presided over a large gathering of members at the October meeting of the Townswomen’s Guild, held yesterday afternoon. Sympathy was expressed with Mrs. Bannister in the loss of her daughter. All stood in silence as a mark of respect. It was decided that the National Anthem be sung at the beginning of the meeting instead of at the end. The minutes were read and confirmed and business arising from same was dealt with. Mrs. Denniston was appointed delegate in place of Mrs. A. H. Bogle, who had relinquished the office. The resolutions passed at the annual council meeting held recently were read, and questions concerning the remits were invited. Mrs. Bates convener of the Arts and Crafts group presented a report on the work of the circle. It was announced that the group would meet next Monday instead of the following Monday, which falls on a holiday. Mrs McNeill gave a report on the activities ot the Glee Club group. Mrs. Denniston refeired to the excellent work being acomphshed by the various gionps. After considerable dis-’ cussion it was decided that in future the meetings would commence at 2.15 p.m. instead of 2 p.m. Mrs. W. J. Rogers gave a report of the Porirua Appeal and a money box for the Christmas fund was handed round. It was suggested that a party be given to help augment these funds. A letter was read from Toe H. It was moved and seconded that the guild arrange with the Toe H an exchange of speakers. A song “O Lovely Night,’’ was contributed by Mrs. Vollemere. The accompaniments were played by Mrs. Mcßride.

Mrs. W. Lambert, the speaker for the afternoon, kept her listeners keenly interested in her description of the life and customs of the people in Jamacia. Mrs. Lambert was heartily thanked for her instructive address. Afternoon tea was then served.
