ALBERTA BY-ELECTION
A GOVERNMENT DEFEAT LIBERAL LEADER’S VICTORY (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) EDMONTON, Oct. 8. The fusion of the anti-Social Credit forces dealt the Premier, Mr Aberhart, a severe blow by winning the first by-election since the Government assumed power. Mr E. L. Gray, leader of the Liberal Party, had a majority of 4500 over Mr Joseph Clark, who was sponsored by Mr Aberhart.
An Ottawa message says the Prime Minister, Mr Mackenzie King, has announced that he has agreed to a request by the Premier of Alberta to hear representations before reaching a final decision on the disallowance ot the bank control legislation.
