Mr and Mrs Herbert Smith are Christchurch visitors to Wanganui. Mr and Mrs W. D. Colson, New Plymouth, were week-end visitors to Wanganui. Mr and Mrs H. W. Kidson, of Napier, are paying a brief visit to Wanganui. Mrs 'Webster, of Wellington, is the guest ci Miss Taylor, Campbell Street. Mr and Mrs T. H. Miss Ann Patterson, who has been a Visitor to Sydney on business, returned to Wanganui last Tuesday. Miss A. Gibbons, of Wanganui, is leaving shortly for a week’s vacation in Wellington. Miss Nina Gowan is leaving in a few days’ time to take up nursing in Palmerston North. Mrs C. Bates, who has been spending a fortnight’s holiday in Auckland, and also attended the National Council of Women Conference, returned to Wanganui at the week-end. Mr and Mrs S. L. Parsons, Wanganui, are visiting Auckland for the race meeting. Mr Douglas Wilson is a Wanganui visitor to Auckland and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mrs F. Bauer, of Remuera, Auck- - land, has left the north on a visit to the Hot Lakes district and Wanganui. Mr and Mrs T. L. Canon Williams preached at Evensong at St. Laurence’s Church on Sunday. Mr M. Byers, who has been spending a few days with his mother in Wanganui and also attended the Morrison—Boyd wedding, has returned to New Plymouth. * * * * Mrs Ken Dickson left Wanganui early in the week and travelled by the Union Airways’ ’plane from Palmerston North to Dunedin, where she intends to spend a holiday with relatives. Mr and Mrs Kitto returned yesterday from Hamilton, where they attended the final of the New Zealand golf championships. Mrs F. Webb Jones was hostess av a handkerchief and d’oyley afternoon given at her home in Gonville Avenut yesterday in honour of Miss Reta Bassett, whose marriage will take plact, shortly. Some of the members of the Wanganui women’s branch of the Labour Party visited Wellington for the unveiling of the late Mr Holland’s memorial. They were Mesdames Trickett, Scott, Taylor, Hindley, Adams, Melton, Cleveland, Tomasi, Mortenson, Gallop, Mitchell, Carroll, Channings, Whiteside, Austin, Nelson and j Miss Austin. They were met by Mr J. B. Cotterill, M.P., and entertained | at morning tea at Parliament Build- [ ings and then shown through the buildings, also the new railway station. In the afternoon they were entertained by Mr Campbell, M.P., and Mrs Campbell at afternoon tea. The party returned home late in the even-1 ing.
