OHINGAITI
NATIONAL TARTY. The annual meeting of members of the Ohingaiti branch of the New Zealand National Party was held on Thursday. The chairman, when placing his report of last year’s activities and the balance-sheet before the members, stated that it had been thought advisable to wait until the electoral boundaries were settled before calling the meeting. Ohingaiti was now part of the Rangitikei electorate. The funds of the Oroua electorate were divided equally between the Rangitikei and ManawaLu electorates. Officers for the ensuing year were elected, also delegates to the Rangitikei electoral committee. It was decided that for the present the ladies would form an integral part of the branch with the men, and not a separate unit. After business had been dealt with an interesting discussion on the political situation was indulged in. Thursday, October 21, was decided for the next meeting. Members were invited to formulate what they considered to be a desirable land policy and these would be debated on. It was also decided to try and obtain a prominent farmer outside the district to address the meeting. All members were asked to bring a basket so that supper might be provided. It is hoped that interesting and spirited debates will be the outcome of the meeting. OHINGAITI CRICKET CLUB. The first practice of the club took place during the week-end when a good attendance of players and friends spent a most enjoyable afternoon “wielding the willow.” A further practice is to take place on Thursday night and during next week-end it is hoped that a game will be played with members of the Mangomako team.
