CRUISES TO ISLANDS
TRH’S BY THE MAUNGANUI Tlie response to the announcement that the Maunganui is to make a cruise to the South Sea Islands from Auckland in August has been so encouraging that the Union Steam Ship Company has arranged for the same steamer to sail from Auckland on a further cruise to Tonga, Samoa and Fiji, by way ot Wellington, on August 25. The Maunganui’s first call will be at Nukualofa, the capital of Tonga.
Visits will be made there to the blow< holes, the monument of the sacred kings, the grove of the flying foxe| and other of Tonga’s scenic attractions. Passengers will have an opportunity of visiting the tomb of Robert Louis Stevenson when the Maunganui reaches Apla, capital of Samoa, which will be the next port of call. From Apia the steamer will visit the island of Niuafoou, which is well known for its “tin-can” mail. The Maunganui is scheduled to reach Suva on September 7. and after sightseeing and entertainment there the vessel I will leave for Auckland, where she I will arrive on September 12.
