BULLETS AMONG CROWD
Startling Occurrence at New Plymouth VISITORS TO SHOW STRUCK YOUNG WOMAN IN HOSPITAL SHOOTING CALLERY I.EADBY. [ Per Press Association. 1 NEW PLYMOUTH, June 9. Shot in the back by a bullet from a shooting gallery, Miss Enid Hay, aged 18, of New PlyPlymouth, was admitted to hospital to-night. Another bullet struck an aged man, Mr. Frank Julian, passing through the sleeve of his overcoat and bruising his wrist. Miss Hay was walking slowly in the crowded sideshow section of the Winter Show when she was struck. She felt a blow in the back and fell to the ground. She rose to her feet and bystanders noticed blood on her clothing. She was attended by a doctor and taken to hospital. It is hoped the bullet has lodged in the muscles of the back and the case may not be serious, but. late to-night the bullet had not been located. The shooting gallery was of the usual type, the bullets being fired through a tube at a target backed by a box of earth and a metal plate- The bullets that struck Miss Hay and Mr. Julian passed through the box and nlate and through both canvas walls of the sideshow alongside.
