PROMINENT FILM STAR FAMOUS "PLATINUM BLONDE.’’ NEW YORK, June 7. | The death is announced of Miss Jean Harlow, the film actress, who was reported in a message from Hollywood last week to have been stricken down suddenly with inflammation of the gall bladder and suffered great pain. A later message, while stating that the patient was still suffering pain, said that her condition was improving. A turn for the worse occurred today after the earlier improvement. Miss Harlow was taken to hospitl suffering from uremic poison, which followed gall-bladder infection. She lapsed into unconsciousness. The i patient was placed in an oxygen tent. Two blood transfusions and intravenous solutions were administered. She had persisted in working, although she complained of great pain on May 29. She did not want to delay the picture in which she was appearing with Clark Gable. She said: “I will continue as long as I can stand on my ' feet.” Among those at Jean Harlow’s deathbed was William Powell, whose close friendship with Miss Harlow caused rumours that he might become her fourth husband. Other film celebrities were also present. All the studios in Hollywood ceased work for an hour. Jean Harlow, the original“platinum blonde,” whose sensational rise in popular favour was one of the most remarkable stories of modern firns, was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on March 3, 1911.
