VICTORY FOR MONTANEZ Received June 9, 11.15 a.m. NEW YORK, June 8. Montanez knocked out Phil Baker in the second of a ten-round contest, increasing the likelihood of a title match with Ambers. Montanez was cautious in the first, forcing Baker to come towards him and then scoring a series of solid lefts to the jaw In the second round Baker’s attempt to gain at close quarters permitted Montanez to land a left and three terrific rights to the jaw, scoring a knock-out.
