BEARDMORE—PENWARDEN

The wedding was celebrated at St. Nicholas' Church, Kaholu, recently 01 Elsa Nora, only daughter ui Mr and Mrs C. Penwarden, ’’Wainui,” Rahotu, and Lawrence Huime, elder son of tne late Mr and Mrs Beardmore, Wanganui. The Rev. L. T. Gribble officiated and Mrs W. Butler presided at the organ. Tne church had been decorated uy frienas of the bride. When the bride entered the church escorted by her father, she wore a gown of magnolia satin fashioned on slim-fitting lines and panelled from the waist at the bacK to form a long fan-shaped train with insets of lace. The neck was softly cowled in front and finished with faggoting, while at the back tiny buttons were arranged from the neck to the waist-line. Tne sleeves, which were slightly gathered at the shoulders, were tignt-fitting from the elbows and formed points over the hands. Her embroidered veil was mounted on a pleated halo of net with a coronet of orange blossom and fell to form a second train.

The bridesmaid, Miss E. Gilhooly, a friend of the bride, was in a honeyroon green French cloque, cut on classical lines, with a cowl neck and row of buttons down the centre of the back. Her sleeves, which were cowled at the shoulder, were tightfitting from the elbow and finished with tiny buttons. She wore a coronet of gold, finished with a pleated halo of net. Gold kid shoes and a shower bouquet of gold chrysanthemums and freesias and maidenhair fern completed her toilette. The best man was Mr A. J. McHannigan, Pihama. A reception was held at the bride’s home. Mrs Penwarden wore a frock of maroon blistered satin and lace and hat and shoes to match. Mrs Perry, Wanganui, sister of the bridegroom, wore a navy blue ensemble with matching accessories. Both carried bouquets of autumn-tinted flowers and berries, made by Mr B. A. Layard, a friend of the bride. When Mr and Mrs Beardmore left on their wedding tour the bride traveled in a crushed blackberry jumper suit, nigger brown coat and hat and accessories to tone.
