RAETIHI MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Raetihi Women’s Institute was held in the Druids' Hall on Thursday, June 3. Mrs. Fredrick presided over a fair attendance of members and welcomed new members and visitors. The meeting opened with the "Ode to Friendship,’’ followed by the Aspirations. The minutes of the last meeting were read and the general business dealt with. Mrs. Fredrick read the motto for the month, "A standing gate post gathers no knowledge.” Dr. Feltham gave a very interesting demonstration and lecture on first aid, which was greatly appreciated, and for the July meeting Dr. Feltham has kindly offered to come along and demonstrate bandaging. Appreciation was expressed in a hearty vote of thanks to th doctor. The competition for the sponge sandwich was won by Mrs. Dobson, Mrs. Fredrick being second and Mrs. Ward third. Dressmaking competition: Mrs. K. Lynch and Mr. Mitchinson tied for first place. The potato competition was won by Mrs. Fredrick, with Mrs. J. Shaw second. The competitions for the July meeting will be <a> cocoanut ice—four pieces, <b> best knitted article. During the social half-hour. Miss Innes, of Queensland. Australia, gave a very interesting talk on the “Coun-
try Women of Australia.” which was listened to with great interest by those present. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostess and the singing of the National Anthem ended another happy meeting.
