WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, June 8, 4 p.m. General Situation.—Pressures are still rather low and conditions disturbed to the north and north-east, but an intense anti-cyclone now covers the greater part of the Tasman Sea and extends on to southern New Zealand. Forecast. —Winds: South-westerly to south-easterly, moderate to strong about and north of Cook Strait but decreasing to-morrow, elsewhere light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough between Kalkoura and East Cape, a considerable southerly swell south of Kaikoura and also north of Farewell Spit, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: South-easterly winds prevailing, moderate to strong at first in the northern portion but decreasing and otherwise light to moderate; seas, a considerable but decreasing southerly swell. Weather.—Fine in districts with a westerly aspect, elsewhere still changeable and with occasional scattered showers but improving tomorrow except on the east coast of the North Island north of Hawke’s Bay. Temperatures cold with many sharp frosts. Phases of the Moon for June.—Third Quarter, June 2; New Moon, June 9; First Quarter, June 16; Full Moon, June 24.
